Approach
Eclosion's approach is unique by its hands on selection process and its economically viable model
Hands-on selection approach
Eclosion selects the most promising amongst the hundreds of academic projects it receives, and tests their potential applications in Eclosion's state-of-the-art facilities, with the support of the leading academic institutions of the Geneva region. Eclosion's selection and investment process is unique, by defining upfront key feasibility criteria and major development risks, and addressing them through hands-on scientific experiments under industry-validated protocols. Investments follow experimental validation, increasing in size only after key risk factors are removed.
Economically viable model
Hands-on validation of early-stage projects is an effective selection process, but would be too costly without Eclosion's unique business model. Eclosion's federates existing resources in the Geneva region, the leading biotech cluster in continental Europe, to make it economically viable. The State of Geneva funds Eclosion's state-of-the-art facilities in Plan-les-Ouates. The surrounding leading academic and hospital centers provide their infrastructures and medical expertise, while industrial companies contribute their development insights. Eclosion's team has proven its effectiveness as a "software", identifying and managing ad-hoc resources to address the validation needs of a specific project, before it can be launched and funded. Yet investment decisions remain fully independent, as there are no public, academic or industrial company rights on projects, nor external influence levers on investment decisions.
